Neurodivergent Priority Scale

The Neurodivergent Priority Scale is a flexible, nervous-system-friendly way to sort tasks without pressure, shame, or urgency overload.

Traditional to-do lists often assume unlimited energy, consistent focus, and equal access to motivation. This scale works differently. It helps you decide what actually needs your attention right now versus what can wait, based on capacity, not just importance.

There is no “right” way to fill this out. Tasks can move. Priorities can change. This tool is meant to support you, not control you.

How To Use This Tool

On a blank piece of paper, brain dump all the things you need/want to do. Then using the Neurodivergent Priority Scale, evaluate where each task/item fits on the scale.

Helpful Tips for Best Use

  • This is not a productivity tool, it’s an executive functioning tool. The goal is clarity and nervous system relief, not getting everything done.
  • Limit your ‘right now’ section. If everything feels urgent, pause and reassess. Too many “now” tasks often signal overwhelm, not true urgency.
  • Use it daily or situationally. You can use this in the morning, during shutdown, before a busy week, or anytime your brain feels overloaded.
  • Pair with regulation. If filling this out feels stressful, try grounding first (breathing, movement, temperature change) and come back when your body feels a bit safer.
  • You’re allowed to rest. Choosing not to do something is still a valid choice.
